KGA-PGA, Inc. Names 2008 Junior Players of the Year

The Kentucky Golf Association and the Kentucky Section PGA are proud to announce the 2008 Junior Players of the Year. Miss April Emerson of Jamestown and Miss Lydia Gumm of Radcliff shared co-player of the year honors for the girls and Mr. Justin Thomas of Goshen was the boys player of the year. All three have earned this distinction by performing at a top level during the 2008 golf season.

Emerson's highlights include a first place finish in the Gatorade Division at the Pepsi Tournament of Champions and two first place finishes in the Mt. Dew Junior Series (Lakeside G.C. and Henry County C.C.) and many top ten finishes in events throughout the state. Gumm won the Kentucky Qualifier for the Junior PGA Championship, finished 2nd in the Leachman Buick - GMC KHSAA State Championship, and finished 3rd at the Kentucky Girls Junior Amateur. Top finished throughout the state helped Gumm earn this title in 2008. Thomas’ hightlights include the low Kentucky male at the AJGA event held at Bellefonte C.C., the low junior at the Fifth-Third Bank/Callaway Golf Kentucky open, and a 3rd place finished in the Leachman Buick - GMC KHSAA State Championship.

The three KGA-PGA, Inc. Junior Players of the Year were honored at the Kentucky Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for Mr. Ray Ottman and Miss Bettie Lou Evans. The ceremony was held at Lexington Country Club in Lexington on Thursday, November the 13th.
